How to Turn Off Auto Correct on Android

How to turn off auto-correct  on Android is a very useful feature in that helps people type language words correctly and quickly using the default android keyboard. This is indeed a very useful feature for people who are new to language but on the other hand it can be annoying for people who want to type non English in English.

For example, an Indian might want to type Hindi words in English and in this case, the automatic correction feature would be very annoying by suggesting English words that would be completely irrelevant. So honestly the auto-correct feature is a blessing and a curse, depending on the language the user wants to type.

Adding to this, with the advent of the term internet, people are no longer used to typing in full words. So if you often sign the term internet, then you are better off without the Auto-correct feature.

For the two situations above, it would be better if you completely disable the predictive text feature. For those who want to turn off the predictive text feature, here’s how to do it

Following are the steps to turn off the auto text feature on Android:

Step 1: Navigate to your Android phone’s settings and enter the Language and Input settings .

Step 2: Click on the Settings icon next to the Android keyboard you are using. In this case, this is Android Keyboard (AOSP).

Note: The default Android keyboard may be different for different cellphone manufacturers. For example, in the case of Samsung Android phones, the default keyboard is the Samsung Keyboard and the settings may be slightly different.

Step 3: Tap Automatic correction and select Off to turn off the automatic correction feature.

Step 4: Tap Show correction suggestions and select Always Hide .
